Scene: Situated between high brick walls and the sidewalk along St. Gregory Street, patio seating at Longworth's offers the best outdoor people-watching spot in Mount Adams. By day and evening, the patio hosts an all-ages crowd. Later at night, it's overtaken by college kids and young professionals, though I have a hard time making out which are which.

Eats: Quesadillas, pizzas, salads, wraps and sandwiches cover all the bases of standard American tavern fare. Go for the discount drinks and half-price appetizers during happy hour, when a big basket of crispy golden onion rings are $2.63. Topped with Boursin cheese, lettuce and tomato, Longworth's Burger ($7.25) is a 1/2-pound of Angus beef cooked to order. (Emily Lieb)
