Northside Distilling's rum, twice distilled from blackstrap molasses and brown sugar, is the first and only rum made in downtown Cincinnati.

In the spring of 2017, Northside Distilling opened its new location on Race Street downtown after moving from its former barn operation in Northside. At the time, they only had a few spirits available: corn whiskey, bourbon, vodka and moonshine. Over the past year, the distillery has expanded its offerings with the release of gin, American agave (aka tequila) and, this week, they are releasing their seventh spirit in two years: rum.

Northside Distilling's rum, twice distilled from blackstrap molasses and brown sugar, is the first and only rum made in downtown Cincinnati. "The new spirit is sweet, warming, and everything you want in a summer liquor," according to a press release from the distillery.

To celebrate the launch of the spirit, they're throwing a tiki party on Saturday, July 28. The event will be co-hosted by Taft's Brewporium and will offer drink specials on Nellie's Keylime Caribbean Ale by Taft's Ale House ($3) along with Rum Capri Suns ($5) and rum cocktails ($7). In addition to the island-themed drinks, the party will also have live music, a food truck and cigars.
