A new, laidback LGBTQ+ ultra-lounge will be hatching in downtown Cincinnati this week.

The Flock, located in the space previously occupied by The Birdcage on Race Street, will hold its grand opening Friday, Aug. 4. Doors open at 5 p.m. and live music from Louisville’s Honey Jaii starts at 10 p.m. Saturday will feature music from Cincinnati’s Alexa Marie.

The lounge’s concept comes from Ignite Entertainment owner Juan Imeroni, who also owns Birdcage. After Birdcage moved to a larger space at 412 Central Ave. in June, renovations began to transform the space into The Flock, marrying the vibe of the Birdcage with the feeling of a lounge, says Imeroni. Plush seating, backlit tables, lounge spaces and a lowered ceiling along the bar were added, along with aviary-themed decor and accents.

The Flock will offer a polished craft cocktail menu, directed by Guy Ulam and Josie Cooke, that will spotlight classic drinks with modern twists. And entertainment is slated for every weekend, featuring local performers, burlesque shows, karaoke and more.

“We wanted to take a familiar space that our patrons already know and love, and give them a different kind of experience here at The Flock,” Imeroni said in a press release. “There aren’t many low-key LGBTQ+ destinations for weekend nights out, and we wanted to create something special here on Race Street. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve done with the place!”

Doors open both Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. with no cover until 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., there is a $10 cover, which will be valid for both The Flock and The Birdcage. Ignite Entertainment has also partnered with GEST Carts to provide safe and free transportation to and from all their venues in downtown and Northern Kentucky from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. every weekend and from 6-10 p.m. on weekdays.
