Looks like East End burger joint Terry's Turf Club is set to reopen in the New Year under new ownership — at least according to the business's Facebook page.
On Christmas Eve, Terry's posted that a new owner will be taking over and keeping most of the current staff — "a good Christmas present for the current staff who remained." Terry's officially closed on Dec. 23 and the new iteration of the restaurant is tentatively set to open on Jan. 3.
Terry's, a frequent top-placing reader favorite in CityBeat's annual Best Of Cincinnati public poll, announced it was closing at the end of this year because owner Terry Carter was retiring.
Terry's was in the spotlight earlier this year after Carter was accused by former employee Evelyn Marie Reid of making sexist remarks to her after firing her. Reid posted her story and a video of Carter, which appears to capture these remarks, on social media, which was then widely shared and reported on by local media outlets. According to the Business Courier, Carter settled a lawsuit with Reid and has said the shuttering of the restaurant is not related to the incident or settlement.
