EMMA: Wine With Friends* is an approachable new wine bar and shop located in Cincinnati's East End. The bar opened on Dec. 17 and features over 40 different wines on tap that are available via a self-service platform so that visitors can explore and taste at their own pace. In addition to wine, guests can enjoy a cocktail at the bar or grab a bottle or six-pack of beer to go.
The motto behind EMMA is "wine with friends," and the shop strives to welcome wine drinkers of all levels of expertise in a comfortable and casual environment to enjoy sipping with family and friends — old and new.
The team behind EMMA is made up of four business partners — Tom Giltner, Mike Doenges, Kevin Bullinger and Jeffrey Pater — plus general manager and wine buyer Dave Schmerr. Schmerr has over 30 years of experience as a wine buyer in Cincinnati.
"We have staffed EMMA with a very knowledgeable wine staff who is ready to answer any questions a guest may have and pride themselves on knowing not only about the wine notes, but also on the story behind the vineyards and winemakers," says EMMA partner Jeffrey Pater in an email interview.
EMMA is located at 3227 Riverside Drive in a 130-year-old building that seats 40 guests. They are working on opening a patio in the spring and plan to offer light bites in 2020.
