Don’t let the name confuse you: this year’s Oktoberfest party is actually kicking off in late August.

The Germania Society boasts that their 49th-annual Oktoberfest is the most authentic in Cincinnati (or Zinzinnati if you’re really getting in the Deutsch mood).They have live German music and dancing, games for kids, plenty of food and, of course, a wide variety of bier, wein and schnapps.

Festival food options include:

  • A special traditional German dinner in the Klubhaus Friday (6-9 p.m.), Saturday (3-9 p.m.) and Sunday (noon-6 p.m.): Pork loin dinner with spätzle and green beens or red cabbage; sauerbraten dinner with spätzle and green beens or red cabbage; or a cabbage roll dinner with potatoes.
  • Coffee and pastries in Klubhaus including cream puffs, mousse, strudel, beehive and brownies.
  • Oktoberfest chicken (rotisserie grilled over an open fire pit)
  • Schwenkbraten (pork on a swing)
  • Sauerkraut balls
  • Cabbage rolls
  • Schnitzel
  • Limburger cheese sandwiches
  • Homemade coleslaw
  • Homemade potato salad
  • Bierwurst
  • Curry wurst
  • Oktoberfest brats
  • Wieners
  • Goetta
  • Homemade mock turtle soup

In addition to eats, there will be over 60 taps with German brews including those from Warsteiner and Konig Ludwig, Jagermiester, Bavarian wines, schnapps and more. Prost!
