In quaint holiday news, Fifty West Brewing Company in Columbia Township is adding a new attraction to its stretch of Wooster Pike — which already features a brew pub, production works (with volleyball in non-COVID times), burger bar, bike rental, running clubs and more.
This winter, they're adding an ice rink.
Yes, you can head to the brewery, pop on some skates and glide around a 40-foot-by-80-foot rink near their new Fifty West Burger Bar. The ice rink opens the week of Nov. 16 and $10 admission includes skate rental and one hour on the ice. (Children under 4 are free.)
Tickets will be reserved on a timed basis, to ensure social distancing and capacity limits, and masks are required.
Ticket purchases can be made in person at first, but there will be a reservation and ticketing system live by Thanksgiving at fiftywestbrew.com.
“We want Fifty West to be a place you can come and safely make memories throughout the holiday season,” said Fifty West Founder Bobby Slattery. “When we thought about winter and this pandemic, we wanted to give people a sense of normalcy, keep our staff employed, and provide a community hub to bridge the gap between fall and spring, with plenty of outdoor space for customers.”
In addition to the ice rink, they will also be adding three, large heated tents, fire pits, holidays lights and decor and warm drinks — hot cider, cocoa and spiked options for those 21 and up.
Santa will also be stopping by from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 27, Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 for photo ops. Pose in front of a mobile workshop with the man in red for a snap and then tell him your holiday wishes while a photo prints. Tickets will be available soon at fiftywestbrew.com and will include photo copies (digital and physical), plus a free hot cocoa.
