Next week, Findlay Market is hosting the grand opening for Jane's bar. The new drinking destination, in partnership with Karrikin Spirits, will be taking over the former biergarten space at Elm and Elder streets.
Named after historic Findlay Market founder Jane Findlay (she and her husband donated the land for the public market), Jane's will not be completely enclosed, but will feature a new literal bar, new branding and new seating, says Findlay's Director of Communications & Strategic Initiatives Kelly Lanser via email.
There will also be string lights and provided shade for drinking both during the daytime and nighttime. The bar will "be integral in helping to activate evening activity in the Market District as more businesses and restaurants stay open later into the evenings," says a release.
"(Jane's will be) a great atmosphere for people to grab food from one of the merchants and eat lunch or dinner outside with live music in the background," says Lanser. "(It's) essentially an outdoor food hall with super awesome food."
Findlay is celebrating the bar launch with a three-day party featuring happy hour specials, giveaways, music and a photo booth.
The official grand opening takes place 11 a.m. April 2 with a welcome, official tapping, live music and all-day happy hour with half-price draft beers and $4 Karrikin Un Poco Loco cocktails. But starting April 1, guests can hit up Jane's between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for that same $4 cocktail deal, audio of the Reds Opening Day game and 4-6 p.m. happy hour.
From 11 a.m.-8 p.m. April 3, there will be another happy hour from 4-8 p.m. (half-off drafts and the $4 cocktail), with live music from Everything's Jake from 5-7 p.m.
“To be partnered with such an iconic piece of Over-the-Rhine history is a humbling experience," says Matt Grove, Director of Marketing for Karrikin. "When people think of OTR, they think of Findlay Market. For us, being able to represent Cincinnati, and the region with craft spirits, sparkling spirits, and beer that's made start-to-finish right here in Cincinnati is a point of pride. We look forward to working with and supporting the market and its diverse vendors this season and beyond."
