Cincinnati’s Fountain Square’s newest addition, Royce, is set to open next week.

The “modern French brasserie” is opening at The Foundry, 3CDC’s $51 million development in the building that previously housed the downtown Macy’s, on Aug. 9.

Royce is being brought to life by Nashville-based restaurateur Terry Raley, who opened the popular oyster bar and restaurant Pearlstar in Sept. of 2021.

Raley originally signed the lease at the 501 Vine Street location in June of 2021 and began the development of the restaurant.

Royce is “a French-leaning dining experience that will feature a raw bar as well as an open-air kitchen and dining room," according to a press release. The spot looks out onto Fountain Square and the Tyler Davidson Fountain.

“Our team is energized and we all feel really proud to bring Royce to Fountain Square. Our mission when we started this project was to honor this city and one of its most important intersections, and to bring it confidently into the future,” Raley said in a release. “We have committed ourselves to excellence in every respect, and the result is one we are very proud of."

The 4,700-square-foot European-inspired spot was the first tenant inside of the 3.5-story mix-use development. The overall structure hosts 150,000 square feet of offices, which houses Turner Construction and Deloitte, plus 35,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space on the street level.

So far, Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse has announced it will soon be moving into the space and indoor golf simulator, restaurant and bar Five Irons Golf is set to open in The Foundry sometime in late 2022.

“Royce is the perfect concept to open at this critical corner in our urban core,” Katie Westbrook, development director for 3CDC, said in a release. “The vibrancy at Royce and make it feel like an extension of Fountain Square and we can’t wait for patrons to experience the positive energy that will be created in the heart of Downtown Cincinnati.”

Royce plans to slowly transition to all-day dining, offering only dinner from Aug. 9-12 and then dinner and brunch service starting Aug. 13. By Aug. 22, Royce will be open to guests hungry for brunch, lunch and dinner.  Brunch will be offered from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and then lunch will be served until 5 p.m., when dinner service begins. The menu for Royce has yet to be announced.

Royce is located at 501 Vine St., Downtown.
