Frisch’s Big Boy has expanded its menu to include two new fish sandwiches for the upcoming Lent season. In addition to the sammies, the local restaurant chain also has introduced some sweet dessert items.
The two new sandwiches, which are available now, offer a saucy spin to the classic fried fish favorite at Frisch’s.
The lemon pepper fish sandwich features two cod fillets that are hand-breaded with “zesty lemon pepper” and dressed in lettuce and original tartar sauce.
The spicy Sriracha fish sandwich’s cod fillets are hand-breaded in Sriracha seasoning and served with lettuce and Frisch's spicy tartar sauce.
The new menu items come just in time for Lent, which begins this Wednesday, Feb. 17. Those observing Lent cannot eat meat or poultry on Ash Wednesday nor any Friday until April 3. These new sandwiches will provide an alternative meal that adds to the assortment of fish-centric dishes at Frisch’s.
Some other fish dishes at Frisch’s include the original fish sandwich, fish meal, butterfly and popcorn shrimp meals and the New England clam chowder.
“We’re excited to build upon the tradition of our famous Fish Sandwich by adding the amazing flavors of Sriracha and Lemon Pepper,” Alison O’Keefe, VP of marketing of Frisch’s Big Boy, says in a press release.
In addition, Frisch's features some meatless-inspired meals made with the plant-based Impossible Food product line, such as the Impossible Big Boy and the egg, cheese and Impossible sausage biscuit.
While some Lent observers will bypass the dessert section, the Frisch’s menu has some new additions and returning favorites. Frisch’s will now offer a new salted caramel frappe made with Ghirardelli salted caramel sauce as well as the return of the fan-favorite carrot cake.
To maintain dining safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, Frisch’s Big Boy offers a limited contact in-dining experience, online ordering, curbside service or drive-thru and delivery options.
