After a successful September-long pop-up at Queen City Radio's The Bullet (the outdoor trailer-bar located in the beer garden), Felix Coffee Co. has brought the party inside for the month of October. QCR welcomes the coffee pop-up into The Living Room, a relaxing lounge space with retractable garage doors.
Logan Peele and Jessica Ufkes brought the idea of Felix Coffee Co. to fruition just over year ago and celebrated the pop-up’s first anniversary in April. The duo has set themselves apart by committing to a nomadic business practice, wheeling their way around the Greater Cincinnati area and feeling out various communities to find where they belong before planting roots.
According to Peele, "This temporary residency is kind of a dream come true to be honest — though we are a pop-up, we’ve always had a vision for a shop since we started Felix."
Felix stems from Peele’s obsession with coffee and Ufkes’ love of community. Community without coffee feels like a dim office space with a drop ceiling, and coffee without community is just a damn shame. “We want people to feel at home…even if they don’t know us,” Peele says.
The space and location has been very beneficial to their temporary residency. "Being able to have a space with free WiFi, a giant garage door that lets the afternoon breeze flow in and the perfect amount of seating for work meetings or just catching up with a friend is what we’ve always wanted," Peele says.
They have two pour-over hot coffee options, a cold brew option and hot or iced tea. In addition to beverages, the pop-up has treats from local bakery Hygge Cakes and they have teamed up with Prospect Jam Co. to offer seasonal breakfast tarts as well as Energy Bites which are made with Felix coffee.
The pop-up has already begun to make an impact on the community, bringing in regulars and tending to the area's coffee blackout zone. "We keep hearing over and over again that there is a coffee drought on that side of Washington Park — which we didn’t know about before starting this — so to be able to bring people something that they’ve been craving is such a great feeling. We already have regulars who come by everyday for coffee, and hope to grow that," Peele says.
