July 28 is National Chili Dog Day and to honor those who celebrate, Gold Star is giving away free cheese coneys.
As long as you purchase a regular Pepsi product.
The deal is available at all Tri-State Gold Star locations for drive-thru, carry-out and dine-in.
The chili parlor is offering up its classic cheese coney — crafted with a "specially made hot dog, mustard, Gold Star’s famous 13-spice family recipe chili, a steamed hot dog bun and...onions and shredded cheddar cheese," as described by Gold Star — for free, but also chili cheese sandwiches (which can be made vegetarian).
"National Chili Dog Day is a Cincinnati tradition that we take very seriously at Gold Star,” says Gold Star President and CEO of Gold Star, Roger David, in a release. “Whether you eat your free coney with or without mustard and onions or enjoy them with vegetarian chili, we’re happy to make it just the way you want."
Gold Star says it sold nearly 7 million cheese coneys in 2021 and also offers an interesting weight comparison in the press release: It would take 764 cheese coneys to equal the weight of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. (Gold Star is the official chili of the football team.)
