People magazine published a recent round-up of the best pies in every state. Many fruit pies oozing with sweet berries were represented on the list, as well as pecan, sweet potato and so on — but Ohio's best pie was a slight (but pleasant) surprise.
Graeter's Black Raspberry Chip pie was recognized as the top in the state. This was only a surprise because many of us here at CityBeat were ignorant to the fact that it even existed. Though, there is no doubt our minds that this pie deserves the title. After all, Black Raspberry Chip ice cream is arguably the Queen City's favorite ice cream.
The pie is made with two lbs. of Graeter's Black Raspberry Chip ice cream inside of a chocolate pie shell and topped with bittersweet chocolate and chocolate curls.
According to the article, in order to choose the 51 pies (all 50 states plus Washington D.C.), People worked with Eater and their regional departments to find out who served up the tastiest pies in each state, "giving special weight to those with regionally inspired recipes and locally sourced ingredients."
Here's where to find your local Graeter's Ice Cream shop to try it for yourself.
