The growing entertainment hub of Court Street Plaza in downtown Cincinnati is getting another new place to eat. Hawaiian barbecue joint Onolicious has signed a lease for a new spot at 1005 Walnut St., just around the corner from the recently revitalized plaza, according to a press release from 3CDC.
Onolicious' original location is in Oakley Kitchen Food Hall and is owned by husband-wife duo Vincente and Elena Benedett. Their authentic Hawaiian BBQ is made with organic and locally sourced ingredients, and their mission is to evolve Hawaiian cuisine Malama honua-style, which means to do so by taking care of the Earth.
“Hawaiian food got to where it is today through a beautiful evolution where all these different cultural influences came together over many years. It's always been changing,” said Vincente in the release.
The menu at Onolicious features plate lunches, poke, Loco Moco – a popular Hawaiian dish made with rice, burger and a fried egg – pupus (appetizers) and desserts.
“We can’t wait to expand our menu and really have a chance to bring more of our great Hawaiian culture and cuisine to Cincinnati,” Vincente said.
3CDC says it believes Court Street Plaza has the potential to be one of the best dining districts downtown and adding Onolicious to its roster will create a unique vibe and draw more visitors.
Onolicious’ downtown location is expected to open in Summer 2023. It will be open Tuesday through Sunday and have a late-night walk-up window open Thursday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
