The Derby Meal Kit

Steakhouse chain Jeff Ruby's is celebrating the "most exciting two minutes in sports" with a special Derby Meal Kit.

The 147th running of the Kentucky Derby takes place on May 1 at Churchill Downs in Louisville. And while seating and capacity are limited this year due to COVID, you can still don some seersucker and a giant hat while downing a mint julep at home.

The Derby Meal Kits cost $250 and serve four people. Each kit includes four uncooked 8-ounce Black Angus filets, pimento cheese with crostini, benedictine spread with cucumbers, biscuits from Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey with salted honey butter, a Freddie salad, roasted baby carrots with a bourbon glaze, macaroni and cheese, and Derby butter pie as well as fresh mint and mint simple syrup to make a proper julep. While the booze for your cocktail is not included, Ruby's will be providing its classic mint julep recipe.

“Jeff Ruby’s Derby Meal Kits were one of our most popular offerings, last year, as our guests found them to be the next best thing to being at Churchill Downs" said Britney Ruby Miller, CEO of Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment, in a release. "Derby Meal Kits are the perfect accompaniment to the fastest two minutes in sports — for race fans and foodies alike."

Kits are limited and can be purchased at jeffruby.com/derby. They'll be available for pick-up April 29-May 1 at The Precinct, Carlo & Johnny and Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse; you can select a location and pick-up time at checkout.
