Cincinnati hospitality mavens Julia Petiprin and Catherine Manabat have officially announced an opening date and name for their new Over-the-Rhine bar and gathering place: Homemaker's Bar will open at the corner of 13th and Walnut streets in June.
Former Los Angelenos turned passionate Cincinnatians, Petiprin, director of operations and design for Circle Hospitality Group and its first venture, Sundry and Vice, and Manabat, part of the opening bar team at Metropole at 21c Museum Hotel, have come together to create a space inspired by a retro vibe and the domestic cocktails of the 1950s through the 1970s.
Homemaker's Bar will unite their unique focus on design and nontraditional spirits with a cocktail program featuring lesser-known liqueurs like "Italian bittersweet tinctures, herbal and fortified wines, and low-proof cocktails," says a release. There will also be classic drinks complemented by modern and refreshing takes.
According to the same release, the name was inspired by "the natural spirit that lives within each and every one of us: the raw passion to create and usher a welcoming sensibility through the artful hand and eye of food, beverage, hospitality and design." The aim of the bar is to honor and unite the innate makers, doers and individuals in the community via fun drinks and a fun space.
Homemaker's Bar will be located 35 E. 13th St., Over-the-Rhine.
