The Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road (GSKWR) are making two novel innovations this Girl Scout Cookie season.
First: There's a a new cookie.
The Toast Yay! — apparently only available locally from the Kentucky Girl Scouts — is inspired by French toast and dipped in icing. (You can learn about this year's Kentucky cookies at gskentucky.org.)
Second, they have also added a digital platform to make buying a shit ton of Girl Scout Cookies during a pandemic easier than ever. (Thin Mints: more important than toilet paper and Lysol?)
The national Girl Scout Digital Cookie platform and Smart Cookies Mobile App lets scouts "initiate the cookie sale, whether online, via email, or in person at the cookie booth with their Digital Cookie mobile app," says a release. The app is available for iOS or Android.
"Girl Scout Cookie sales represent over 80% of GSKWR’s annual operating budget. All proceeds are truly girl-focused, with 19% going toward camp programs and properties, 19% toward troop proceeds and rewards, and 33% toward membership, volunteer development and program support," says a release from GSKWR.

Local Ohio Girl Scouts are also going digital this year.
The Girl Scouts of Western Ohio say, "The Girl Scout Cookie Program begins January 1, 2021! If you know a Girl Scout, ask her for her Digital Cookie link to place an order online! Online ordering for the public will begin on February 1, and cookie booths will begin popping up in your community on February 12."

Fact: One of the best parts of living in Greater Cincinnati is being able to purchase different cookie varieties from Kentucky and Ohio. Get more info at gswo.org.
