Scarlet Begonia's Flower Truck, named after a Grateful Dead song of the same name (minus the "flower truck" part) is a self-proclaimed groovy pop-up floral experience.
According to their start-up story on the website, Kara Acri spent more than 25 years in PR before tackling her dream of floral design and blending it with her own memories of "shopping for assorted oddities and sundries out of the back of old pick-up trucks and VW vans at flea markets, festivals and numerous Dead shows."
At the beginning of 2020, Acri bought a 1950s blue Chevy Apache pick-up and launched head-first into bringing flowers to the community. You can pick your own bouquet or have Acri make one for you from the back of the truck bed.
And this weekend you can find Scarlet Begonia's popping up outside of Lil's Bagels.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, you can get your favorite bagel and schmear — made with chutzpah — and a handmade bouquet. Lil's is serving 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
(Speaking from experience, if you want to make sure you get a certain flavor of bagel, place your Lil's order online in advance.)
