Mt. Adams Indian restaurant Mantra on the Hill continues its monthly wine dinner series on Wednesday, June 18, with a French wine pairing.
Vintner Select sommelier Jeff Hickenlooper has selected a variety of wines from France to pair with Indian dishes created by Mantra chef/owner Yajan Upadhyaya. “I am especially looking forward to this dinner because not many people think of French wines and Indian cuisine going together,” says chef Upadhyaya in a recent press release. "Jeff and I had a great time putting these wines and dishes together — I think we both enjoyed the challenge."
The five-course dinner features the following:
- Chateau de Roufort Rose de Provence Corail 2013 with duet of Imli Baingan and Papri Chaat
- R de la Grange Chardonnay 2012 with Manglorian Shrimp (jumbo prawns, toasted coriander, coconut, curry leaf, tomato ragout)
- Domaine Jean Fournier Marsannay la Cote 2011 with Murgh Salna (pan-seared chicken breast, roasted chickpeas, fennel seed, coconut sauce and saffron tomato basmati rice)
- Chateau La Bernede Grand Poujeaux 2010 with Boti Kebab aur Bhaji (tandoori marinated grilled beef kebab, potatoes, porcini mushrooms, herbs de Provence, fenugreek beurre rouge)
- Chateau Lamourette Sauternes 2009 with Gajjar Halwa (carrot almond custard and honey-cardamom gelato)
