Montgomery brunch spot Toast & Berry is reopening dine-in seating on July 15, with new management and a new menu.
The restaurant is now led by local Looking Glass Hospitality Group, which also owns and operates TAHONA Kitchen + Bar, S.W. Clyborne Co. Provisions & Spirits and Fretboard Brewing & Public House.
“We had just completed kitchen renovations and menu development when the governor issued the shelter-in-place order,” says Scott Schmidt, founder of Looking Glass Hospitality Group.
The new menu, developed by VP of Culinary Will Wadsworth and Concept Chef Mark Bodenstein, features fresh takes on breakfast classics like a Monte Cristo french toast and waffle and smoked pork. Savory lunch items such as the quinoa chicken bowl make an appearance as well.
Of course, brunch isn’t brunch without booze, so the bar menu is loaded with breakfast bevs such as the Morning Mule (vodka, OJ, ginger and lime) and eight flavors of mimosa — fresh orange, fresh grapefruit, pineapple, ginger, peach, strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate. Or you can do a mimosa flight (three mimosas, not all eight).
Toast & Berry says it has gone to great lengths to ensure the health and safety of its staff and patrons upon reopening, with employees attending COVID-19 training sessions, and managers and chefs provided with ServSafe Level 2 Manager Certifications.
They will also be using contactless menus, requiring employees to take a health survey before their shift and have places barriers between tables and employee stations.
“As always, our top priority is to provide a great dining experience in a clean and safe environment,” said Scott Schmidt, Founder of LGHG in a press release, “Our team is committed to taking every step necessary to keep our guests and team members safe when they return to dine in the restaurant or on the patio.”
The restaurant is not taking reservations. If there's a wait, guests will be asked to wait in their car until their table is ready. Carryout and curbside pick-up available.
You can find Toast & Berry at 9856 Montgomery Road, open 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. For menus and more information visit toastandberry.com.
