The 55-year-old Celestial steakhouse, a Mount Adams eatery that had one of the best views in the city, has closed. It will be reopened as The View Event Center in March 2019.

Opened in 1963, the Celestial held its last dinner service on July 21. Demolition on the current historic restaurant interior begins July 31.

The View, a 7,600-square-foot space, will be able to host between 225 to 300 seated people for dinner and up to 700 mingling people for a cocktail party. Managed by the team from Funky’s Catering Events, the goal is to host weddings, charity events, dinners, fireworks parties and more.

According to a press release, “The space will be completely renovated to restore the grandeur of one of Cincinnati’s most celebrated dining spaces.” Architecture work will be done by the Drawing Dept. and Funky’s has started taking reservations for the space via funkyscatering.com.
