Mt. Healthy's Fibonacci Brewing Company is turning five and is celebrating the anniversary with a socially distant outdoor bash.

From noon-midnight on Saturday, July 25, there will be food, music and two taprooms of beer at the campus, which features an expansive outdoor beer garden and urban farm — think grassy areas, plenty of shade and friendly chicken and goats. Look for special beer releases including a raspberry and blackberry Berliner weisse, a New England IPA, a Belgian wit aged in New Riff bourbon gin barrels and a light lager.

“It’s been rough the last few months for small businesses, but we have also had some great support," said brewery co-owner and president Betty Bollas in a release. "People have left us notes of encouragement in their online orders, dropped off inspirational painted rocks, hand-sewn face masks, and our staff have been right there with us and doing everything they can to help keep us going.

"Despite all obstacles, we are still in business and we want to celebrate that with the people who have been there with us over the last few months or over the last five years. We are feeling positive for what our future will be as we continue to build our community, brewery, and urban farm with the amazing people who support us!”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the nanobrewery opened a drive-thru window and delivery service for their brews. They say they also suffered about $20,000 in damages from a tornado in early April; they are still waiting on a new roof. But, they say, they've continued to brew beers to support the local community including hospitality professionals and women in beer and have hosted their monthly farmers market to help with food insecurity in Mt. Healthy. The neighborhood is a food desert and their farmers market accepts SNAP and Produce Perks benefits, and also serves as a voter registration space.
