Soon a new Kentucky bourbon will hit the shelves, thanks to a partnership between a Northern Kentucky distillery and an NBA legend.
Four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP Stephen Curry is launching his own spirit, Gentleman's Cut Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The bourbon was a joint venture between Curry's SC30 Inc., Napa Valley’s Amuse Bouche Winery owner John Schwartz and Florence’s Boone County Distilling Co.
A bourbon that was years in the making, Gentleman’s Cut's name is a nod to the art of crafting a good spirit, as well as to Curry’s skillful movement on and off the court, says the release.
"Celebrations take on many different forms, from intimate gatherings to major milestones, and at the center of each memorable moment is a spirit rooted in history and tradition," Curry said in a press release. "I'm proud to have helped carefully craft a new signature Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Gentleman's Cut. This rich, complex and bold bourbon is the perfect offering to commemorate life's great occasions, and will be part of a raised-glass toasting moment in the lives of my fans, friends and family."
Curry was involved in Gentleman’s Cut in every step of the crafting process, including the manufacturing, blending, aging, packaging and marketing. At the heart of the label is a personal message from him.
The bourbon is distilled, aged and bottled in Boone County. It’s first distilled in 500-gallon copper pot stills, which gives it a “full-bodied palate and complex aromatic profile,” says the release. Following that, it’s aged for five to seven years in charred new white oak barrels, providing tasting notes of cinnamon, seared caramel and sweet toasted chestnut.
"In close collaboration with Stephen, we produced a high-quality aged bourbon offered at a great value that will resonate with bourbon connoisseurs and help grow the craft bourbon category to our global audience," Schwartz said in the press release.
Boone County Distilling Co. says Gentleman’s Cut will launch in their gift shop in June. It will also be distributed nationally by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and will retail for $79.99.
