A new place to grab a beer and turn your friends into enemies with an intense game of Monopoly is now open in College Hill.
Board game bar Free Parking will celebrate its grand opening at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. The bar, located at 6200 Hamilton Ave., has been hosting soft-opening hours for the past week.
Free Parking says it aims to be a welcoming space where patrons can enjoy a wide variety of board games, along with drinks and bites, in a relaxed atmosphere.
“Our goal is to create an experience for our customers to try out games from our library while enjoying our food and beverage options,” said Free Parking owner Matt Wright.
Free Parking’s menu features a small selection of pub-style food, including sharables like pretzels and beer cheese, wings and a brisket flatbread, as well as handhelds like burgers and chicken sandwiches. There’s also some traditional sides like fries, salads and mac and cheese.
College Hill will also see another business officially open its doors this weekend. POUR Candle Co., a shop where you can craft custom-scented candles or choose from a curated selection of candles and gifts, will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5852 Hamilton Ave. POUR Candle Co. will also offer different craft events.
"I'm thrilled to provide a space where people can authentically be themselves, share experiences, and connect with one another. POUR Candle Co. is more than just a business; it's a place where memories are made, and friendships are forged,” Zonieke Alston-Betts said in a previous press release.
College Hill CURC (Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation) says both Free Parking and POUR Candle Co. will bring even more energy and vibrancy to the neighborhood’s thriving business district.
"We are thrilled to welcome both Free Parking and POUR Candle Co. to the College Hill
business district. These businesses reflect the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that continues to drive our community forward. Their openings are a testament to the thriving, supportive environment we’ve cultivated here, and we’re excited to see how they will contribute to the vibrant life of College Hill,” College Hill CURC CEO Emmanuel Karikari said in a press release.
