Northside Yacht Club Offering Deep-Fried Snickers Bar on a Stick as Weekend Special

The bar — well-known for its outlandish deep-fried concoctions — has a tasty new creation this weekend, inspired by co-owner Stuart MacKenzie's time abroad in Scotland

Cincinnati's loosely nautically themed restaurant, bar and music venue Northside Yacht Club has become well-known for their outlandishly creative culinary concoctions — and their most recent weekend special is no exception to the tasty trend.

From June 26-28, NSYC is featuring a deep-fried Snickers on a stick, drizzled with a reduction of their signature peanut butter tequila and sprinkled with some powdered sugar. The over-the-top dessert is priced at $10 and is their first go at a sweet treat. 

Bar co-owner Stuart MacKenzie said the dessert is inspired by his time living abroad in Glasglow, Scotland.

"A popular dish at a chippy was a 'Mars bar meal' where they battered and deep fried three candy bars. They also battered and deep fried hamburger patties. The popular drink was a vodka Coke," says MacKenzie. "Scotland is weird place and I loved it, the people are very friendly."

They are also offering a pulled barbecue eggplant sandwich and fries for $12, with charred eggplant in a five-spice rub, NSYC's house tangy barbecue sauce, homemade pickles and red onions, with fries. 

"The eggplant is our other special — won't stop the heart attack that the Snickers bar gives you — but it is healthy. And delicious," says MacKenzie. 

In addition to their specials they will have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian wings available with a variety of sauces, the Yacht Club Double Smash Burger with fries, poutine and some specialty drinks. 

Northside Yacht Club is currently offering outdoor seating only, with their two-story patio open, in addition to five tables along Spring Grove Avenue. A host will seat guests and will be monitoring the amount of visitors entering and exiting the restaurant.

Guests are asked to enter through the Dane Avenue patio entrance and must wait to be seated. Menus are available via QR codes on the tables — which will be sanitized between each group.
