Columbus, Ohio-based, hand-rolled Bavarian pretzel shop Brezel (brayt-zuhl) has decided to close its Over-the-Rhine location.
The bakery, located at 6 W. 14th St., opened in the fall of 2014. According to owner Brittany Baum, their decision to close was based on the effects of the city's new parking laws.
"Our five-year lease was up and we decided not to renew it. Some of the city's decisions around parking in OTR greatly impacted our business negatively," Baum says via email.
The bakery's last day will be Sunday, June 23.
Brezel creates a variety of flavored pretzels including options like jalapeño-cheddar; asiago, herb and cracked pepper; dark chocolate and sea salt; seasonal offerings like pumpkin spice and more. Along with hand-rolled pretzels, Brezel offers pretzel twists and bites, plus made-from-scratch dips, buns, pizza crusts and more.
