Was a better match ever made than that of cheese and wine?

Furthering the love affair between everyone’s favorite fermented combo, Stephanie and Dave Webster, the owners of The Rhined cheese shop in Findlay Market, have purchased Oakley Wines.

Those who frequent Oakley Wines for its wine bar and bottle shop need not worry — those grapes aren’t goin’ anywhere. Instead, the new owners plan to build on the progress of previous owner Zach Eidson, offering “reinvigorated retail wine offerings, glass pours, cocktails, events and a new menu featuring select artisan cheeses.”

“I love wine so (selecting and tasting wines) was definitely an easy part of the job,” said Stephanie of opening The Rhined in a 2017 CityBeat interview. The Rhined has featured everything from prosecco to pinot noir on their menu since opening its brick-and-mortar last year, all of which are meant to be perfectly paired with cheese flights and charcuterie boards, of course. The Rhined stocks a few beers, too, but given the couple’s inclination for wine, purchasing Oakley Wines seemed like a natural next step.

“Oakley Wines was the perfect opportunity to expand our brand through our love and appreciation for wine," the Websters wrote in a press release. “This location will allow us to expand our event offerings, so look for Cheese + Wine classes and Meet the Maker dates soon. We have some really cool things planned. We are eternally grateful to Zach Eidson for trusting us with the business he has worked so hard to build over the last five years. We will make him proud.”

On the event calendar so far are an acquisition party on Sept. 29, a cheese and wine event with Judy Schad of Capriole Goat Cheese Oct. 3, and longstanding plans for pizza party Tuesdays and $10 wine tastings on Fridays.

The shop will operate under new hours on Sundays and feature Bloody Marys and mimosas made with Rooted juices all day and afternoon $10 wine tastings.

Hours: 3-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 3 p.m.- midnight Friday-Saturday; 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Sunday. Oakley Wines, 4011 Allston St., Oakley. oakleywines.com.
