HomeMakers Bar, Over-the-Rhine's retro-inspired drinking destination, has opened a new back bar experience: The Kitchen Bar.
Founded by co-owners Julia Petiprin and Catherine Manabat, HomeMakers merges a focus on fun design with nontraditional spirits — vermouth, low-proof cocktails, infused aperitifs — and the domestic cocktails of the 1950s through the 1970s. The food menu offers delightfully nostalgic bites like finger sammies, homemade snack mix and late-night grilled cheese pastry pockets.
The new Kitchen Bar expands this vision with an intimate, rentable space for parties of two, four or six where guests can engage directly with bartenders in a one-on-one-style environment, trying exclusive cocktails.
As a press release reads, "It’s an experiential joy ride with one-of-a-kind drinks tailored to their palate in a warm and friendly environment where cocktails and hospitality work in tandem."
The experience includes a three-cocktail tasting and a flight inspired by 1970s Baja, California and slightly psychedelic vibes.
The bar is open on Friday and Saturday nights and reservations are required.
HomeMakers has also recently introduced large-format bottled cocktails — including a White Peach Negroni and Amaro-Fashioned — with almost three servings per bottle. To share or not to share, that is the question.
HomeMaker’s Bar is located at 39 E. 13th St., Over-the-Rhine.
