Pendleton's fast-casual fried chicken joint CHX closed its doors to walk-in guests on Sunday, Oct. 20 and will be reopening as a special events kitchen moving forward.
The eatery, which has been been serving the neighborhood for the past six months, is changing its business model to better cater to the adjoining 3 Points Urban Brewery's growing events business.
"We are flexing our business model to meet the growing need to support our private and large event traffic at 3 Points. We will no longer offer walk-in service, but will be able to cater to larger parties with more creative freedom on the culinary menus," said Jack Weston, who is in charge of operations at 3 Points, in a press release.
CHX is owned and operated by Hickory Wald — the team behind 3 Points, Nation Kitchen and Bar and Rhinehaus. Their signature menu item is Bantys, "lump-sized" chicken pieces named after a wild and soulful breed of Indonesian chicken called "Bantam."
"We've been thrilled with the growing demand for our space to host a variety of parties and events, ranging from 15-person birthday parties to 400-person private celebrations. CHX will now be able to bring you both our popular chicken banties, sandwiches, hush puppies and fries, but also a wide variety of other catered menus," Weston explains.
According to the press release, employees of CHX will maintain their positions during the change in operations.
"This transition will allow us to better meet our customer's needs and focus on the brewery business and events," Weston says.
