Pontiac OTR receiving some fresh new paint to reflect its new focus

Over-the-Rhine's Pontiac BBQ announced via a Facebook post on July 30 that they would be converting into a new concept due to the time-intensive nature of making good-ass brisket and other barbecue.

"Being a full service functioning BBQ restaurant in this new economy sucks. From beef brisket & short ribs to pork ribs, everything just costs more and with most quality Barbecue joints you've gotta smoke it all the night before with little knowledge of what the next day will be like," owner and chef Daniel Wright wrote in the post. "We've been fortunate to do this as long as we have and we're grateful to all of our guests and our loyalists, but we're hanging up our hat, we're throwing in the towel."

Many folks voiced their sadness and their hopes that some favorite menu items would roll over with the new project — and it seems their wishes may have been granted.

Reopening to the public at noon on Aug. 12, Pontiac OTR will be focusing on smoked wings and tiki drinks moving forward.

The petite food menu features wings with seven different sauce options, including Carolina Gold and Island Jerk, that can be ordered in groups of 5, 10, 25 and 50. In addition to wings, they also have a selection of sharable bites and sides like brisket nachos, a quesadilla, Asian chicken salad, mac and cheese and curly fries.

The drink menu offers 10 tiki cocktails, including the Painkiller, I'm Still Standing and Hurri-Kanye Slush. They also have a small menu of non-tiki cocktails and variety of draft, bottled and canned beers and non-alcoholic bevs.
