Taste of Cincinnati will once again take over downtown's Fifth Street

Get your waistbands ready: Taste of Cincinnati is returning in 2022.

Launched in 1979, this giant and long-running food festival will take over Fifth Street downtown from May 28-30.

Full details have not yet been announced, but the event typically includes a weekend of more than 60 restaurants, food trucks and vendors slinging their best bites to a crowd of around 550,000 over the course of the weekend. Fans can also expect live music and local brews. Admission is free.

Restaurants and food trucks interested in participating can now apply online at tasteofcincinnati.com.

The pandemic put the kibosh on Taste of Cincinnati for the past couple of years. The 42nd-annual Taste of Cincinnati was originally scheduled for May 23-25, 2020 and was rescheduled for July 3-5. Then it was postponed indefinitely.

To help local bars and restaurants weather the tough conditions produced by COVID in 2020 and into 2021 — and keep the Taste of Cincinnati name alive — the city and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber Foundation launched Taste of Cincinnati All Winter Long. It provided help specifically geared to those food and drink establishments within city limits to "sustain the city’s restaurant economy and retain jobs in the service industry," per a release.
