The Cheesecakery, one of the Queen City's newest bakeries, celebrated its grand opening in historic Madisonville on July 29.
Liz Field, The Cheesecakery’s owner, grew up in the Madisonville area and wanted to stay close to her family roots. Field's family owned a grocery store not far from the location of her bakery for over 85 years. Her great-grandfather immigrated from Sicily and started Mannino’s Supermarket in Madisonville; after many years of serving the community they were unfortunately forced to close.
Inside of The Cheesecakery, Field pays homage to her family by showcasing advertising signs from the Mannino’s grocery store, as well as family photos.
The bakery features over 75 different flavors of cheesecake and all are available in a signature cupcake size, as well as in cheesecake pops and minis.
There are three different categories for the cheesecake flavors — signatures, candies and marbles. Some of their signature flavors include the Bengal Tiger Turtle and Flyin' Pigs Pink Lemonade. Candies flavors include Batavia Brownie and Madisonville Mint Chocolate. Marble cheesecake options range from Bridgetown Blueberry to Paddock Hills Peach.
Cupcakes are $3 each individually; cheesecake pops and minis are both $2 each. All are available by the half-dozen or dozen as well.
In addition to cheesecake, the bakery also offers a variety of baked goods made in house, like "big ol' cinnamon rolls," scones, chubby cookies and cake donuts, as well as cannoli from Del Gardo's, bagels from Five One Three Bagel Co. and macarons from Cryss Macaron & Cakes. They also have a variety of coffee, tea and lemonade drinks with which to wash it all down.
The Cheesecakery also has a food truck that Field has been running since 2009 — you may have seen it at the 2019 Taste of Cincinnati, where The Cheesecakery took home second place in the dessert category.
The store is open 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
