A Northern Kentucky culinary landmark is expanding, but you won't have to travel far to find its new location.
The Baker's Table, which opened in 2018, quickly became a favorite for their locally-sourced ingredients and made-from-scratch dishes — and the word got out quickly. In 2019, the eatery was recognized by both Eater.com and USA Today as one of the best new restaurants in America.
Despite the struggles of the pandemic-riddled past year on local small business, it's clear that the team and reputation behind The Baker's Table was strong enough to not only pull through, but also find themselves in a position for growth.
Chef David Willocks and his wife Wendy Braun announced on Aug. 10 that they will be opening The Baker's Table Bakery this fall, right across from the beloved restaurant.
“Opening the bakery is a natural progression from where we started when we opened The Baker’s Table in 2018,” Willocks says in a press release. “Our mission has always been to feed people with love, and we are looking forward to creating more touchpoints for the community to get to know us and our food."
The new establishment will provide freshly-baked goods for the restaurant and will also feature counter service for customers to order breads and pastries as well as coffee beverages from their espresso bar.
The release explains that the bakery, located in a renovated historic building, will have cafe-style seating and counter seating where visitors can watch the bread-making process.
A definitive opening date has not yet been announced, but you can follow along on the bakery's Instagram for updates.
The Baker's Table Bakery will be located at 1001 Monmouth St., Newport.
