Thunderdome Restaurant Group — the team behind such eateries as The Eagle, Pepp & Dolores and Maplewood Kitchen and Bar — is hosting a pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic at its Over-the-Rhine taqueria Bakersfield.
In partnership with Mercy Health, the clinic will be focused on vaccinating Thunderdome employees as well as other area hospitality workers.
From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, April 19, medical personnel will be distributing 300 Pfizer vaccines. Each person who signs up and receives their first shot will also be given an appointment to get their second shot. The Pfizer COVID vaccine requires two doses approximately 21 days apart.
“We innately understand the challenges hospitality and restaurant workers have faced throughout the pandemic and know that it’s been a bit of a chess match when it comes to securing vaccine appointments,” says Joe Lanni, co-founder of Thunderdome, in a release. “We really wanted to find a way to make it as easy and convenient as possible for our team members and neighboring restaurant workers to get vaccinated.”
Thunderdome says it's assisting distribution as part of Hamilton County's "Get Out the Vax" effort to get 80% of the population vaccinated by July 4.
“We're proud to be able to offer the opportunity to be vaccinated at work to all of our Cincinnati employees and to the rest of the Cincinnati hospitality community,” Lanni says. "If we fill all available appointments and the interest is there, there's an opportunity for us to offer this again in the future."
