Cincinnati's beloved Turkish coffee pop-up Rüya is teaming up with Over-the-Rhine brewery Rhinegeist on an exciting limited-edition brew, just in time for the spooky season.

Ghost Dreams, a stout made with Rüya coffee and cardamom, will be available in the taproom beginning Monday, Oct. 26.

The brew's namesake brings together the two cultures that make up the collaborative businesses — "geist" meaning "ghost" in German and "ruya" meaning "dreams" in Turkish.

"Rhinegeist x Rüya are both proudly made in Cincinnati (Elm Street buddies), with roots from afar," says a press release, sent by Rüya owner Melissa Aydogan.

"Rhinegeist stands for 'Ghost Of The Rhine' and speaks directly to their European heritage of the Rhine river in Germany. Rüya stands for 'Dream' and speaks directly to their Turkish heritage. Behind the beauty of Rhinegeist x Rüya, there are immigrants bringing a taste of home to Cincinnati."

The Queen City first got a taste of the magic of Rüya at Aydogan's Findlay Market pop-up at the Globefront Gallery in 2018, when she received a $15,000 grant from People's Liberty to bring her vision of a traditional Turkish coffeehouse to life. Since, she has hosted her Turkish coffee pop-ups and collaborations at various businesses across the area. But Aydogan says this forthcoming partnership blooms from a seed planted in years past.

"Two years ago, Rhinegeist employees walked into the Rüya pop-up at Findlay and ordered Turkish coffee. As the 500-year Turkish tradition goes, they agreed to have their fortunes read from the coffee grounds…Little did they know that a Rhinegeist x Rüya beer was to be found," says the release.

As of now, the brew will only be available on tap. But if you'd like enjoy a beer that's "Dark as Hell, Strong as Death, Sweet as Love," grab a pint when Ghost Dreams is released this month and cheers to the flavors of culture.
