Drag Bingo at 3 Points

Fall is in session, and that means autumn flavors are back and breweries are ready to celebrate the season with themed events and other fall fun. Here are some upcoming brewery events to add to your calendar.

  • On Sept. 27, 3 Points Urban Brewery brings back Drag Bingo, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race’s contestant and local drag queen, Miss Penny Tration.
  • On Sept. 28, Brink Brewing will release their Oktoberfest beer, Brinktoberfest. They will host a stein-holding contest in which the winner gets to keep the stein. For non-contest participants, pay $10 for a stein and a pour of Brinktoberfest.
  • On Sept. 29, Alexandria Brewing Company invites people to drink beer at their taproom and consider adopting a pet from Campbell County Animal Shelter. They’ll have adoptable animals on hand, a keg of Easy-Going Pup and special deals.
  • On Sept. 29, Streetside will throw a two-year anniversary bash. They’ll have live music, specialty releases throughout the day, a chance to dunk a bartender and a brewer, and they’ll pop open some beers from their cellar such as Demogorgon and Tequila Mockingbird.
  • Every Wednesday night in October, Taft’s Brewpourium will host free screenings of horror films (because of the R-rated nature, only those 18 and older will be allowed). The list is solid: Se7enThe StrangersChildren of the CornThe Sixth Sense and The Conjuring. Unlimited candy and popcorn will be offered, and it’s encouraged for patrons to dress up: the best costume each week will win a gift card.
  • October seems like a good time to get in touch with the spiritual world. During select Fridays in October — Oct. 12, 19 and 26 — Fibonnaci will host Taps and Tarots from 6-10:30 p.m. And every Friday and Saturday in October, Christian Moerlein will host Haunted Brewery Tours. Brave people will meet dead characters from Cincinnati’s brewing history and have a chance to solve a mystery. Tickets are $25.
  • From Oct. 5-7, Wooden Cask will host the Rhythm Brew Art and Music Fest. The event highlights 39 bands — Richie Ramone (as in the Ramones), The Tillers, 500 Miles to Memphis, the Cliftones, Moonbeau, etc. — on two stages. Tickets cost $15-$30. While you’re there, seek out their brewery cats, Sully and Spencer.
  • FigLeaf turns two on Oct. 6 with an anniversary party. They’ll have 24 beers on tap, a bottle release of the 24-month-aged Barrel Aged Black Solstice (with notes of dark chocolate, raisins and molasses), a dunk tank, live music and food.
  • On Oct. 13, Brink hosts their second-annual chili cook-off and homebrew competition. Chili makers must use Brink beer in their concoctions, and homebrewers must use chili peppers. The folks who really bring the heat will be awarded with a People’s Choice award.
  • Oct. 19-21, Wiedemann gets into fall with Falling for Wiedemann Fall Festival at their brewery in Saint Bernard. They’ll sell Monmouth Street Blonde Ale for $3 a pint and $12 a pitcher. Expect live music and all kinds of autumnal fun.
  • Rhinegeist’s Rare Beer Fest takes place all day on Oct. 20. Sample rare beer from across the country in two sessions: noon-4 p.m. or 6-10 p.m. Tickets cost $40 (10 five-ounce samples) or $65 VIP (four additional tastings and food pairings).
  • On Oct. 20, participate in The Cov Abides Adult Scavenger Hunt/Bar Crawl. Wear a bathrobe or a fishing vest to venture through several of Covington’s bars while taking on challenges and drinking Braxton beers. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes; tickets are $5.
