The Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, a nonprofit community development corporation working to enhance the quality of life in Walnut Hills, has partnered with the Walnut Hills Area Council to host a weekly Walnut Hills’ Friday Food + Fun event.
Friday Food + Fun takes place from 1-3 p.m. Fridays at 954 E. McMillan St. in the former Kroger parking lot.
The event features frozen casseroles and soups from La Soupe, salads from Sleepy Bee Café, pantry food boxes, and care packages from Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation and Full Circuit, a group that assists community members with COVID-19 related impact.
Freestore Foodbank's Healthy Harvest Mobile Market will also be taking part in the event, providing affordable produce and a dollar-for-dollar match for Supplemental Nutrition and Access Program (SNAP) users courtesy of Produce Perks.
“Thanks to our partnership with Full Circuit, residents have received personal hygiene products and other supplies, in addition to receiving (Healthy Harvest Mobile Market) deliveries to their door,” noted the organization in their WHRF fall newsletter.
The WHRF fall newsletter says that since March, they've handed out "over 59,000 pounds of shelf-stable groceries" to those in need.
The Church of the Advent’s Espresso Priest will be making free cappuccinos for attendees as well.
