The Bruce Willis-starring movie Open Source has begun filming in Cincinnati.
According to Film Cincinnati, shooting on the Matt Eskandari-directed project started this week and the cast includes Willis, Jessie Metcalfe, Natalie Eva Marie and Lala Kent. It is being produced by Emmett Furla, the production company's sixth Cincinnati-filmed movie.
“We love shooting in Cincinnati,” said producer Randall Emmett in a release. “The city is so welcoming and the film office is one of the best in the country.”
According to a study by the University of Cincinnati Economics Center, the motion picture industry had an "economic impact" of $80 million in the area in 2017 and 2018. Numbers are not available for 2019.
“Obviously there is a lot of excitement when stars are filming around Cincinnati,” said Kristen Schlotman, executive director of Film Cincinnati, in the release, “but the real excitement is seeing how many jobs these production companies create for locals and how much money they spend while in town. That’s what we care about.”
