After a successful first year this summer, Girls Rock Cincinnati will be hosting a special fundraising event this Friday, Oct. 25 at the American Sign Museum in Camp Washington.
GRC's Halloween-themed benefit concert will feature live performances from Cincinnati artists like Tweens, Aziza Love and Marjorie Lee, as well as some of the first-year campers and counselors.
The event is open to all ages and kicks off at 7 p.m. Admission is $8-$15 and advanced tickets can be purchased here.
A weeklong music and creative arts summer camp for girls and gender-variant youth aged 12-18, the empowering program's inaugural year was supported by a variety of local counselors and musicians, who gave instrumental lessons and helped teach everything from screen-printing (for t-shirts) to DJing to stage presence. Several local artists also gave special performances for the campers throughout the week. Designed to help bolster self-confidence, the participants formed bands, wrote a song and performed at a jam-packed finale concert.
