This year marks the 30th anniversary of Cajun-flavored Cincinnati band Robin Lacy & DeZydeco. And this weekend the group will be celebrating and also raising funds for a good cause.

The band’s musical gumbo — which mixes Zydeco, Blues, Funk, Country and Roots Rock — has made them a local favorite since their formation in 1989, winning local music awards and acclaim along the way. Robin Lacy & DeZydeco continues to play on a regular basis; this summer they have several outdoor shows lined up, including next Friday (June 14) at the Blue Ash Town Square Amphitheatre (find more dates here).

This Sunday, the group — which features Robin’s wife Joani Lacy, who’s also a successful writer — will celebrate their milestone anniversary and also raise money for Play It Forward, the local organization that assists area musicians during financial and health hardships.

The event is a special Sunday afternoon concert at Newport’s Southgate House Revival, kicking off at 2 p.m. Tickets for the all-ages show are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
