Comedy Rock Heroes Tenacious D to Bring Pre-Election Tour of Swing States to Cincinnati

Tenacious D will not just shut up and sing. The comedy/music duo featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass has announced that in the lead up to the 2020 election, they will be embarking on "The Purple Nurple Tour… Twisting Hard To The Left."

"Donald Trump has proven to be the most divisive, corrupt and dangerous President in the modern history of this country, and we simply cannot stand for another four years of his administration," the musicians say in a press release. "Now is the time to elect a REAL leader!"

The tour — in partnership with the 46 for 46 org, which promotes voter registration and activism through music — will be hitting "swing states" that will be crucial in the upcoming election, including Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania (fans in the NYC and Maryland/DC area will also be getting visits from the D on the tour).

Tenacious D will also be hitting up Ohio in hopes of putting the Buckeye State back in play for the Democrats. They'll perform at Cincinnati's Taft Theatre on Sept. 29 with special guests Wynchester.

Tickets ($55-$95) go on sale this Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. via ticketmaster.com.

"In 2016, six states were decided by 2 percentage points or less, and ten states were decided by 4 percentage points or less," the D explains in the release. "Swing states played a pivotal role in the outcome of that election, and they will again in 2020.

"Knowing that, we looked at each other and agreed: just like the tale of Post-Apocalypto, it is time for Tenacious D to RIDE and help save the world from Trumpian destruction. With great rock comes great responsibility."
