The annual Crown Jewels of Jazz series featuring local and nationally-recognized Jazz artists returns this week. This year’s home for the free, weekly concerts is the lawn at St. Aloysius Orphanage (4721 Reading Road, Bond Hill). Music begins each week at 6:30 p.m.

This week’s series opener on July 3 features Tim Warfield’s Organ Band. On July 10, the event’s founder and longtime local vocalist Kathy Wade heads up the “Sistahs Who Swing” showcase with singer Mandy Gaines and the Jordan Pollard Quartet, while Cincinnati favorite Marc Fields plays with a quartet on July 17.

Kansas City-based bassist Julian Vaughn headlines the July 24 concert and NYC musician Christian Sands’ High Wire Trio will present a tribute to legendary Jazz pianist Erroll Garner to close out the series on July 31. Sands will perform another tribute to Garner on Aug. 4 at the Newport Jazz Festival.
