HOT: Hitting High Notes
While some predicted the legalization of marijuana in Colorado would result in the general destruction of society as we know it, the state itself seems to be enjoying the increased tax revenue and others are financially capitalizing on opportunities the new laws have created. That includes the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, which announced a new stoner-friendly concert series called “Classically Cannabis: The High Notes Series.” The performances are “BYOC” (“Bring Your Own Cannabis”), though, if they’re smart, Twinkies will be sold in the lobby. No word on the music the orchestra will perform — maybe they’re just planning on “jamming” for four hours.

WARM: Band Tells Truth About Reunion
We seem to have reached the point where every broken-up band from the ’80s and ’90s that can get back together has gotten back together or will soon enough. (“What about The Smiths,” you say? Just give it time.) Now reunion-mania is working its way into the early ’00s, with manic British rockers The Libertines — who “broke up” in 2004 — returning to the stage this summer to headline a London music festival (the band also did a reunion run in 2010). What makes this new reunion different, though, is band member Pete Doherty’s candidness on the reason for his band’s return. Though it’s one of the main reasons every band reunites, Doherty told NME flat-out that, like its old record contract, the fest appearance is “purely for the money.” Doherty said he expects to make over $800,000 for the one-off performance.

COLD: Lost in Translation
It’s often said that sarcasm doesn’t transmit well in our texting/social media communications. It also doesn’t transfer well when found in a 20-year-old note from a suicide victim’s wallet. When scribblings discovered in Kurt Cobain’s wallet after his suicide were made public recently, the contents — mocking wedding vows that referred to Courtney Love as “a bitch with zits” who was siphoning all his money “for doping and whoring” — some people felt it finally proved the theory that Love murdered Cobain. But Nirvana biographer Charles Cross says Love told him she wrote the note and he confirmed that it appeared to be in Love’s handwriting and such notes were commonplace between them. Don’t worry false-flaggers — there’s still a chance Courtney was responsible for 9/11.
