Frontman Doug Martsch and his iconic indie rock outfit Built to Spill are making a stop in Cincinnati this summer.
The band will play the Woodward Theater on Aug. 22.
Martsch and current lineup Melanie Radford (Marshall Poole, Blood Lemon) and Teresa Cruces (Prism Bitch) will be touring in advance of Built to Spill's forthcoming eighth album, When the Wind Forgets Your Name. It will be the band's first album of original material since 2015's Untethered Moon and its first for iconic label Sub Pop.
Martsch signed with Sub Pop in 2021, saying in a press release: “I’m psyched: I’ve wanted to be on Sub Pop since I was a teenager. And I think I’m the first 50 year-old they’ve ever signed.”
In true Built to Spill-style — Martsch switches up the band after every record —When the Wind Forgets Your Name is a collaboration between Martsch and members of Brazilian psychedelic jazz rock band Oruã. Sub Pop says the album is "a complex and cohesive blend of the artists’ distinct musical ideas. Alongside Built to Spill’s poetic lyrics and themes, the experimentation and attention to detail produces an album full of unique, vivid, and timeless sounds."
