Jake Owen is playing Riverbend and we can’t think of a better way to spend a summer night than with him.
Owen’s rise to fame was quick, going from barroom entertainment to a signed artist in no time. And he has Kenny Chesney to thank. Chesney was originally set to record Owen’s song “Ghosts,” but he ended up not using it. Owen recorded it, instead, and soon enough the Floridian had a record deal.
While “Ghosts” is a rather serious song, Owen really shines when he lets out his fun-lovin’ side. His first single, “Yee Haw,” brought him to the attention of Country radio listeners. From there, it was only a matter of time before he was all over the radio with “Eight Second Ride.” But 2011’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” has been his biggest success thus far. The song quickly became a summer anthem for 2011 and 2012.
Owen is currently gearing up for the December release of his next album. The first single, “Days of Gold,” continues with the fun, summertime vibe he does best. So before you trade your Kings Island passes for UC parking permits, enjoy one last concert and do it with Jake Owen. Who knows — maybe he’ll do a little rendition of “Summer Jam,” his oh-so-good collaboration with Florida-Georgia Line.
JAKE OWEN plays Thursday, Aug. 15 with Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett and Dee Jay Silver at Riverbend in Anderson Township. Buy tickets, check out performance times and get venue details here .
