Kettering, Ohio has decided to cancel its entire 2020 summer concert season at Fraze Pavilion because of the coronavirus pandemic.

And it's not just the concerts — the city has decided it's not safe to open the Kettering Recreation Complex, the Charles I. Lathrem Senior Center, the Kettering Fitness and Wellness Center, the Habitat Environmental Center and Rosewood Arts Centre, Adventure Reef Water Park, Splash Pad at J. F. Kennedy Park, summer camps or host their annual Fourth of July fireworks display.

“These facilities programs, events and camps are a big part of what makes Kettering home; and, the care and consideration for the safety of our customers and staff is paramount in making these difficult decisions,” City Manager Mark Schwieterman said in a press release. “It is our responsibility to help flatten the COVID-19 curve and keep our community in good health.”

The Fraze 2020 summer concert series lineup included shows by Trace Adkins, Postmodern Jukebox and Shinedown. Fraze says guests who purchased their upcoming show tickets from the Fraze FanFare box office, Etix online or over the phone will automatically get a refund within 14 days.

"Please know that we did not arrive at this decision lightly. Fraze Pavilion is a big part of what makes Kettering home! Know that we will continue to follow the direction and information provided by the CDC, Montgomery County Public Health and the Ohio Department of Health when reopening the facility in a way that is focused on the health and safety of our artists, guests and team," reads a statement from the venue.
