Moonbeau has been performing its lush and infectious brand of Electronic Indie Pop on stages throughout Greater Cincinnati for the past few years, but today the duo’s first official original song release, “Are We In Love Yet?,” is ready to caress your eardrums in the comfort of your own home (or wherever you choose to listen, really). Check the premiere below.
Featuring Claire Muenchen and Christian Gough (frontman for Cincinnati Indie Rock greats The Yugos), Moonbeau — which was inspired by Gough’s appreciation for Electronic Pop artists from New Order to A Flock of Seagulls — has posted occasional demos and remixes previously, but “Are We In Love Yet?” is its debut single for Old Flame Records, which released The Yugos’ Weighing the Heart album earlier this year. The song is one of a pair of singles set for a 2017 release; a Moonbeau full-length is slated for 2018.
With an ’80s Synth Pop swoon, rhythmic Indie Rock guitar textures and supple melodies and harmonies, “Are We in Love Yet?” will receive wider exposure a week from today when, according to Old Flame, it will be featured on MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show (which is one of the few programs that actually shows the name of the song and artist it features while it’s playing). The new episode premieres July 19 at 11 p.m.
You can also see Moonbeau live tonight, as the band performs at Braxton Brewing Company in Covington for CityBeat’s free Cincinnati Burger Week Kick Off Party. The event runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Click here for more details.
