We get it — Cincinnati is a weird word and tricky to spell if you haven't spent much time here. It's misspelled so often by outsiders that there's even a great Twitter account called "It's spelled 'Cincinnati'" that is way too active in a world in which spellcheck and autocorrect exist.
Errors corrected by @ItsCincinnati have ranged fairly innocuous typos on personal Twitter posts to head-scratchers from major media outlets and newspapers.
But Rock legends KISS took the mistaken spelling to a whole new level last night when they performed at Riverbend Music Center and brought with them a special "exclusive" shirt just for our market. Fans who wanted to remember the moment forever (or for as long as a concert T-shirt can survive) could purchase a shirt with "Cincinnati" emblazoned across the back.
Or rather, "Cincinnatti." Several concertgoers shared pics of the misguided merch — only $50! — on social media. (H/t @richrichmond and @bgrflckr)
KISS's variation on the common misspelling is fairly common — the double "Ns" seem to confuse people. It's as if they start writing it, knowing there's a double letter somewhere, but are unsure of exactly where. Some go for a single second "N," then a double "T," but KISS went all-in with a double "N" and a double "T," just to be safe. Epic.
Anyway, thanks to Jean Simmons and the rest of the band for a great final show!
