Macy Gray is now scheduled to perform at the Ludlow Garage on Oct. 15

Clifton music venue Ludlow Garage shut down in June for a summer-long renovation project that will expand the club’s capacity from 300 people to 500.

The venue was scheduled to reopen this Friday (Aug. 30) with a concert by singer Macy Gray, but, due what Ludlow Garage management is calling “construction delays beyond our control,” the re-opening is being pushed back to the second week of September.

The delay has caused the postponement of a handful of shows. Those who have tickets for Gray’s concert can use them for the rescheduled date — Tuesday, Oct. 15 — or get a refund at the point of purchase.

Other shows affected by the delay include Pat Travers Band (rescheduled for Oct. 13); Poco (now Dec. 1); Exile (now Dec. 14); Huntertones (now Feb. 29); and The High Kings, which has been moved to March 2020 (the specific date is TBA).

Ludlow Garage is now planning to reopen on Sept. 18 with a show by singer/songwriter/actor Tyler Hinton. Then, on Sept. 19, Dweezil Zappa will bring to the club his tour on which he’s playing his father Frank’s Hot Rats album in full in honor of its 50th anniversary. Zappa’s show — which is now sold out — also marks the anniversary of the opening of Ludlow Garage’s original, historic iteration, 50 years ago to the day.

Once the venue reopens there are some pretty solid events on the calendar going forward, including Steel Pulse (Sept. 20); Adrian Belew (Oct. 4); Rickie Lee Jones (Oct. 19); Kung Fu (Nov. 7); John Sebastian (Feb. 6); and Atlanta Rhythm Section (March 21).
