Wanna get into your wife’s pants or finally ask out that girl who friend-zoned you? We recommend taking her to the Matt Wertz concert Sunday.

Wertz’s music can be described in two words: Mom Rock. He falls in line with guys like Matt Nathanson and Gavin Degraw (both former tour mates). It’s the kind of Lite FM sound that only works on people in love or people who are waiting for their rom-com moment (e.g. girls working on their MRS). Not that there’s anything wrong with that. We’re describing an incredibly large portion of the American population. Wertz knows his niche and he works it very well.

Born and raised in Kansas, Wertz entered college to study industrial design, but left a singer. Wertz knew the ability to strum a guitar would bring all the college girls to his dorm. Eventually he discovered he had a knack for songwriting and, soon enough, he was moving to Nashville, Tenn., to pursue a career in music.

Wertz’s newest record, Heatwave, was released in late summer. It’s full of sounds reminiscent of modern Country and Pop; there’s even a quick riff from Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” on “Last Good Girl.” Most importantly, though, the album is swoon-worthy and female-friendly, making Wertz’s concert a “sure thing.”

MATT WE RT Z plays with Elenowen Sunday, Nov. 3 at 20th Century Theater in Oakley. Buy tickets, check out performance times and get venue details here .
